Traditional home crafts expert Sarah Harper has returned to her roots in North Devon to offer workshops at the lovely Rowan Tree Studio in Higher Clovelly. Earlier this year Sarah realised her dream of moving back from London to give her daughter the same wonderful North Devon childhood which she had enjoyed. Sarah has set up the Rowan Tree Studio in the beautiful Clovelly Estates property which has been constructed with a purpose built annexe designed for business with full disabled access and facilities. Sarah says "I wanted to teach essential skills such as sewing and knitting to local people who, for whatever reason, have never learned and to offer courses for those lucky enough to come here on holiday. I have a real passion for sewing, knitting, patchwork, soap making and other crafts that not only make great relaxing hobbies but also allow you to save money on items for the house, gifts for friends and family and clothes for yourself. I have a real emphasis on recycling old clothes, charity shop finds which mean that not only can you make items for yourself but they can save you money and the contribute to reducing your carbon foot print. Crafting does not need to be expensive!" Throughout the year Rowan Tree offer a series of workshops and 1-2-1 lessons in sewing, knitting, crochet, quilting, furniture painting, soap making and much more. You can learn a new skill in relaxing surroundings with amazing views and scrumptious Devon cream teas. If you are having a special event such as a hen party, birthday or baby shower and want to create something that will give lasting memories why not go along for an afternoon or weekend of crafting. There are a variety of party options for adults and children and Rowan Tree also offer sewing days where you can go along with your own projects and use the studio facilities and sewing machines from as little as £10 a day including refreshments. The Rowan Tree Studio has a regular knit and stitch group where you can bring knitting, sewing or any other craft you are working on and socialise with other local crafters and holiday makers who want to enjoy some relaxed crafting. Sarah will also be selling a selection of essential haberdashery items, gorgeous locally produced wools and lovely fabrics as well as handmade gifts from local designer makers.
