I love spotting the changing seasons where I live in North Devon from the first snowdrop in February, the ladybird that heralds the first day of Spring, the return of the house martins in April, the bluebells in May and so on, you get the picture! I count myself lucky to have easy access to both coastal trails and the countryside footpaths which meander through rural farmland flanked by ancient Devon hedgerows teaming with wild flowers, birds, butterflies and insects. My husband and I have enjoyed many years walking in the open air in Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter taking pictures of little known and remote places around Bideford Bay and Exmoor. My web site the North Devon Focus is devoted to this corner of England. My favourite wild places are Clovelly, Hartland Quay, Welcombe, Westward Ho! beside the Atlantic Ocean and Exmoor National Park including Doone Valley, well known for its association with the novel "Lorna Doone" by R.D. Blackmore.

North Devon Focus has been developed by Pat Adams who has lived in North Devon for over thirty-five years. In the past as a self-employed Advertising Design and Print Broker she has worked freelance on established local business and tourism based publications and co-ordinated the advertising sales and publication of the North Devon Gazette's Special Publications from 1989 to 2005. The titles included the annual holiday magazine, the "North Devon Scene, The Holiday Gazette and North Devon Handy Pages telephone directory all published by Bailey Newspaper Group followed by Archant. This web site is non-profit making and self-funded and aims to promote the coast and "country" side around the Port of Bideford, paying particular attention to the many picturesque villages and hamlets in the Torridge District and Bideford Bay area. We hope it will encourage prospective visitors to the region and be of benefit to those living locally.

North Devon Focus Community Calendar page on the site was created to list local fundraising & area seasonal events for free. This blog was created, a North Devon Coast and Country Chronicle for seasonal news, nature, wildlife photographs and media releases.
