Robbie Williams "Take the Crown" out today

As Robbie Williams looks to the future with the release of the incredible “Take The Crown” , his ninth studio album and his first for Island/Universal, it might also be interesting to remember his considerable achievements so far. In a career strewn with awards, Robbie has quite simply sold more records than any other British solo artist in history. Having sold a staggering 60 million albums over his solo career, Robbie has also won more Brit awards than any other artist in history ( a grand total of 17, to be precise). Six of his albums appear in the all time top 100 biggest selling albums in the UK whilst Williams appears in the Guinness Book of World Records for selling 1.6 million concert tickets in a day in 2006. In 2010 Robbie Williams won the Outstanding Contribution to British Music Award at the BRITS; later that year his reformation with Take That led to their album becoming the fastest selling album of the century. Since then Robbie has been working on his brand new solo album, recorded in Los Angeles with producer Jacknife Lee. The orchestra on the album was recorded at the fabled Capitol Studios in LA. The track-listing for “Take The Crown” is:
  • BE A BOY
  • GOSPEL
  • CANDY
  • DIFFERENT
  • SHIT ON THE RADIO
  • ALL THAT I WANT
  • HUNTING FOR YOU
  • INTO THE SILENCE
  • HEY WOW YEAH YEAH
  • NOT LIKE THE OTHERS
  • LOSERS (featuring Lissie)
The album was preceded by the single “Candy” which was released on October 29. Of this brilliantly addictive classic Robbie Williams pop song, written with Gary Barlow, Robbie says: “It’s a summer song, about a girl who thinks she’s great. And she might be, but she’s a bit nefarious with her ways. Some songs take an age to write and some songs just fall out of your mouth completely formed, and you don’t have to think about it. I don’t know why that fell out of my mouth and out of my brain at that particular time – it just did”. http://www.robbiewilliams.com/home

"Full of Light" - Florence + The Machine video/ new single "Spectrum" with Calvin Harris

Florence Welch’s new single ‘Spectrum’ comes complete with a video by the legendary David LaChapelle and a brand new version by Calvin Harris. The world-renowned director’s last music video was in 2007 for Amy Winehouse’s ‘Tears Dry On Their Own’. Five years on, he jumped at the chance to work with another ground-breaking British singer, Florence Welch, on the video at his LA studios recently. "It's a beautiful song that really touched me and inspired me to create imagery that matches its power. ‘Spectrum’ is free of scepticism, irony, and the coldness one finds in a lot of contemporary popular music. It's the opposite – full of light, positivity and authentic joy. I hope that I can do justice to this moving modern classic. David LaChapelle “It was a complete dream to work with David La Chapelle, I collected his books as a teenager, and I fantasised that he would direct the video for spectrum from the moment the song was written, I still can’t believe it actually happened,
and I'm completely overjoyed that he felt such a connection with the song.” Florence Welch In addition to this exciting collaboration comes a brand new version of ‘Spectrum’ a huge re-work from Calvin Harris as well as remixes from hot new UK act AlunaGeorge and Maya Jane Coles. ‘Spectrum’ will be backed by ‘Breaking Down’ – both taken from new album ‘Ceremonials’. The video for ‘Breaking Down’ follows Florence on her escapades all over the world on tour, as shot and directed by Tabitha Denholm. Watch the video here:

Gospel Chords from Florence and the Machine. Never Let Me Go release date April 2

Florence + the Machine are set to release ‘Never Let Me Go’ as the follow up to ‘No Light, No Light’ on April 2. This emotionally charged huge song is suffused with an elegantly weary grandiloquence, gospel chords shine the way for a multi-tracked flock of Florences to soar in free flight. “The gospel thing comes from my obsession with hymns. I’m drawn to anything that has a hymnal quality, be it Spiritualized or dusty old albums by Georgian choirs.” In the two months since the release of ‘Ceremonials’, love for Florence’s second album continues apace, a mainstay of the UK and US chart top10s with worldwide sales now in excess of 1.5 million. Fresh from a non-stop globe-spanning jaunt of live shows (the US, Brazil and a first visit to Japan), Florence has just returned to the UK where she performed at the Brit Awards & The NME Awards before embarking on her biggest UK tour to date in March. All 120,000 tickets for the spring tour were snapped up by her ever expanding army of fans up and down the country.

James Morrison releases his new single ‘One Life’ on March 26

James Morrison releases his new single ‘One Life’ on March 26. The song, a charming and heartfelt meditation on his life, was written just prior to his father’s tragic death. The track is the third to be taken from his platinum selling album ‘The Awakening’. James was nominated for Best British Male at the 2012 BRIT awards, an accolade he has been nominated for twice before, and won in 2007. James said: . ‘The Awakening’ is such an intensely personal album to me, I’m just pleased people are sharing that and enjoying it so much, and the fans are giving me such incredible feedback and support.”  The Awakening was number one for two weeks when it was released last year. It also contains the singles ‘I Won’t Let You Go’ and the stunning duet with Jessie J ‘Up’ – which have sold over 300k copies.

    Acclaim for The Awakening:
“A TERRIFIC THIRD ALBUM, BURSTING WITH EXPERTLY CRAFTED SONGS” – The Times
“HIS SULTRY VOICE MAKES GROWN WOMEN WEAK AT THE KNEES” – Heat

    “POSITIVELY JOYFUL” – Mojo

James is currently on a world tour and had a run of sold out UK dates in February before moving onto a sold out European tour in March. He will then play shows in South East Asia, Japan and Australia in Spring, moving onto the USA in early Summer. myspace/jamesmorrisonmusic

The 14 tracks you can look forward to are: Green / The Attic / Kling I Klang / Sleep of the Serene / By the Waters / That Dangerous Age/ Study in Blue / Dragonfly / When Your Garden’s Overgrown / Around The Lake / Twilight / Drifters / Paperchase / Be Happy Children.
